Thankfully we are with a credit union now
We had our mortgage with Bank of America not because we wanted to but because they bought it from the small bank we originally got the mortgage through. Their policies were not great and to have an automatically deposited payment arranged each month I had to open a checking account with them or they would charge me $2.50 for each deposit made automatically through another institution. I did that and started paying on the principal as fast as I could afford to pay off this loan. As the rates just went down again last year we made the decision to refinance again just to get out of this bank. Thankfully we are with a credit union now and no longer are under the thumb of B of A, hooray!
